Would this be your first from her generally, or just from her chamber era?

This is kinda nice but not much to grasp onto tbh. I pretty much agree with Demon's take. Just kinda feels like background music. Lucifèrine is the clear stand out. If it was more like that track the whole time I'd be a lot more intrigued lol.

"Beyond this, Luminescent Creatures is nothing if not steeped in its own ecosystem."
Some paraphrase of this would have made a mighty review summary
It's time to save peaceful music from the sleepy tendrils of online music communities. I napped to this too (accidentally) but it deserves better.
Agreed with Frippo that this should be good live, on my tour date she has a free jazz noise guitarist supporting her so I get to experience involuntary ego death and then be reborn in the arms of mother nature.

It's time to lift the stigma of nap music entirely tbh - there will always be albums where there's literally nothing else worth doing to them, but there's plenty of others where restful, half-conscious listening is a peak experience. Fall asleep to Victorialand or Pygmalion a few times and you'll start waking up a new person
That said, this is so succinct and (at points) intricate that I'm not sure if it'll ever be a top-shelf nap album. Always have the feeling I'm missing out on a subtle *something* no matter what state I hear it in, but catching it live should be an interesting foil
Hawks, skip back to her debut or qp — both very different stylistically, much more immediate and imo far preferable to this, much as it nails its brief

Debut is amaaaazing good call Johnny.

Why am I always tailing Hawks this week on the same threads? Lol maybe we're both playing catching up.
Gonna check this today, pretty sure it won't disappoint.

Debut is the one lfg
(I mean, she has better, but still - perf start to her discog, took her a couple of records to do more than play catchup to it)

Dewi bro I'm always playing catchup lol. The debut is pretty much everything I love about folk music. Her voice is so damn BEAUTIFUL.

"Fall asleep to Victorialand or Pygmalion a few times and you'll start waking up a new person"
Pyg is certainly nappable on the basis of my sleep-deprived self making it a go-to in such situations. A state of half-consciousness does aid it's charms. I haven't tried Victorialand, but I can see it working (it's the driftiest of the Twins' repetoire after all)
I'm in agreement that this is not a nap album, at least not yet. I'm struggling to find the most suitable environment for absorbing this tbh, as it's remaining chained to the bottom tier of her (considerable) discog. I'm still expecting it to emerge at some point, perhaps unexpectedly. Maybe I'm forcing it.

tl;dr the only appropriate way to experience this is a) to spin it 3+ times in a row until you forget how long you've been listening or, b) simply to lose consciousness halfway through your first listen
I took route B and thoroughly enjoyed this. Great album that I'll probably never listen to again.

Its just too "in one ear and out the other" for me. Then again I felt the same way initially about the Alora Crucible album from last year and it ended up as one of my fav albums of the year. Gonna keep trying with this one.

This was nice live, Mazamun and (unsurprisingly) Pirsomnia came across particularly well, and her performances of the Windswept highlights were angelic (though not on the level they had been in solo concert - these new tracks definitely benefitted more from full chamber accompaniment)
Didn't play anything pre-Windswept (except Amuletum) and the venue was at once way oversized for her and a full house. Came out missing her intimate shows, hope she at least goes back to solo touring after the promo cycle is past

it is a very nice show. Interesting she didn't play much pre-windswept in your setlist johnny. In the show I saw 1.5 weeks ago she played quite a few. I was super excited to see Mars 2027 and Kikai Jikake no Uchuu
