Production is just so spot on and the drumming/vox are so insanely well done. Could get bumped up shortly!!

Not to interrupt the circlejerk, but hard disagree on both the remark regarding riff variety and lumping this band in with the likes of (old) Suffo or DS quality-wise. (E: Just noticed you wrote 'outside of'. Still don't think they come particularly close.)

This album is what people not accustomed to bdm hear when you play three different slam albums to them. It's one big mush coz unlike above-mentioned bands, these guys mostly rely on groove - and that's fine. The majority of the actual riffs is nothing to write home about imo. There's some chaotic, technical ones I enjoyed, but even those aren't as meticulously placed as something you'd find on a DS record, to stick with that example.

Do like the production, and drums, vox and the overall level of perceived brutality are top notch, just like you said, which makes for a great aural assault. On the same level as Sanguinary Impetus, NSV (comparisons to which have also been thrown around on RYM - I lol'd) or Effigy this is not.

All that said, my rating is probably a tad too low. The grooves do be rulin.

Yeah, my bad. Edit was supposed to clarify that. You did mention they're in the 'upper echelon of brutal death metal' for you, though.

This is a very good slam album, maybe even one of the best. I wouldn't know since I'm not that big on slam unless it's part of a more varied superstructure. The insinuation that this one is almost as good as some of the best in the genre (bdm as a whole, not just slam) just felt wrong to me. Might have overshared, but am feeling better now.

I mean I wouldn't put it on that level quite yet cause its so new to me but I do love it and the replay value is super high imo.

If you like Suffo and DS you should check out Anal Stabwound.

I think bands like this deliberately take influence from the most lowly-regarded death metal like Enmity and Cephalotripsy. They see the likes of Necrophagist and Obscura as eager to impress, like they're trying to give death metal a respectable veneer. I admire that they revel in the filth.

Its a one man band and the guy just turned 20 years old. I believe the first split was released when he was 16 or 17. The kid is absolutely fucking nuts.
