gave this a cursory listen last night and it was kind of a mess?
after hours was a good album but feel like he's really running this sound into the ground at this point. ready to hear something a little different from him

Dang. Really liked After Hours and Dawn FM in particular, but this is kind of stale, no?

I will never understand how anyone can find even an ounce of merit or enjoyment in anything The Weeknd has ever done. least talented mainstream artist since The Black Eyed Peas
LOL

lol i did not realize how much more well liked his last three albums are to his first three (avgs both here and on rym are way higher for the newer stuff)
maybe a its high school nostalgia but i'd take any of kiss land / beauty / starboy over dawn fm and this

I think Dawn and After Hours are among his strongest work.
Kiss Land/Beauty/Starboy have some really nice highs but are incredibly inconsistent

This is the best of this trilogy IMO. It's definitely 'third verse same as the first' but I think this is a sendoff of the sound and style. Really love his work with OPN and Mike Dean on this. Was going to try and see which tracks were skips, but there's nothing outright bad on here? I cut like 3 songs not counting interludes

I don't know, I find that a huge portion of this record is just a lesser version of After Hours to me.

Yeah… but like, After Hours is amazing, I’m fine with some b side feeling songs.
Really wish artists would knock it off with making hour+ long projects. Cut some of that fat baby.
Records good, def gonna have to give it a few more listens

I think I'm biased toward the production. Lopatin and Mike Dean kind of nailed an atmosphere here (though I admit almost no single pop music project warrants 80 minutes of material)

so close to a 4, too long and the middle/ending dont got no upbeat bangers.
Transitions into Open Hearts and Sao Paulo is fire af

Also this album transitions to High For This, first song on his first trilogy

Wake Me Up
Cry For Me
Sao Paulo
Baptised In Fear
Open Hearts
Dancing In The Flames
Timeless
Niagara Falls
Take Me Back To LA
Society
Drive
Runaway
Without A Warning
Hurry Up Tomorrow
Is a really solid album and a good follow up to After Hours and Dawn FM.

This is okay. Like idk if there's really anything too memorable, but it's def better than the last one. That one was so bland. I think the songs with features on here were all pretty decent so that's cool.

Open Hearts is so good
Really solid album tbh, it's long yeah, but probably my favorite from him since House of Balloons
Crisp production and really great lyricism
