"“God Gets You Back” sounds like Daft Punk being hunted by My Bloody Valentine"

I’ll still take this band over every other similar ‘post-rock’

Album is great from what I’ve heard of it.

"i feel like there’s a limited amount of post-rock songs you can make before they just become stale, more so than any other genre" yeah but also consider - pretty soundscapes are pretty hard to mess up

Post-rock still has tons of potential. These guys just lost the plot ages ago and honestly their output has always been weirdly inconsistent. They could have just made Young Team over and over for 30 years and I would have been happy.

i mean depends what you mean by lost the plot because when i listen to this type of music it's to get lost in the pretty instrumentals and sounds and this does fit that for me

It's gotta be super hard to keep up with the same soundscape palette for nearly 30 years.

Godspeed are pretty much the only band still using the same blueprint who have found a way to make it work, and I think that's in no small part due to them being very politically charged and having a vision to attach their music to.

Explosions have kinda veered off into minimalist electronic stuff and mostly scoring tv shows.

I'm glad Mogwai have found a way to keep making music that is still pretty decent, even if their shelf-life isn't that long and the ceiling has lowered substantially.

Been listening to them a long time too and to think their recent stuff in the last 15 years have nothing been worth listening to is hyperbole. White Noise is a beautiful banger. This one is just a stinker.

Hardcore Will Never Die is still a great record. Every Country's Sun has some excellent tracks too.

Hardcore Will Never Die is the last record I was really into by these guys. Still revisiting it occasionally.

finding solace in other geezers long past their sell-by dates are we?

I do have a legitimate question about this album, are there good fires?

As comforting as a cozy log fire which is a good fire.
