Funny/cool how opinions differ so wildly on what the best Mount Eerie is.
This. Wind's Poem and Clear Moon are pretty easily my favs.

Microphones > Mount Eerie, generally, this being the big (and only) exception, but the confluence of the two was eminent and now more apparent than ever.

what a fucking song

Terrible vocals, terrible mixing, drums way too loud. The guy can't fucking sing, he sounds so amateurish. It's probably meant to convey a sense of sadness. But honestly, when he sings in his normal voice, I struggle to feel any kind of emotion, the lyrics don't even seem that sad. I'd rather just listen to Elliott Smith if I want some sad singer songwriter stuff. And oh my god those noise rock parts, fucking horrendous. It all just feels disjointed, from that big noise rock thing to the chill vibe in Broom of Wind? Criminally bad.

Aw gee, but ain’t it great to have a girl so big and fat
That when you go to hug her you don’t know where you’re at
Hug her with some chalk in your hand
Then hug a while and chalk a mark
And see where you began
One day
I was hugging and a-chalking
And chalking and a-hugging awayyyyy
When I met another fella with some chalk in his haaaand
Coming round the other way
Round the mountain
Hugging and a-chalking away
Well a friend of mine out in Chicago, he finally made his pile. He got himself a butler, a mansion and chef. He was living in the latest style. I ran into him the other day in this old greasy spoon. Now out front was parked this big limousine. I said, Friend, you got so much money, how come you’re in here eatin beans? And he said
After you’ve been having steak for a long time
Beans, beans taste fine
And after you been drinking champagne and brandy
You come to dig that wiiiiine
Oh the world is funny. You know people are strange.
And man is a creature of constant change.
And after you been having steak for a long time
Beans, beans taste fine.
I ran into another friend of mine in a rowdy ol Clark Street bar
I said, Friend, is it true what I heard about you?
I heard you married a beautiful shapely 18 year old movie star and yet here you sit trying to make out this barfly too old and ugly to be true
He said, Felix, you’re a very young man
Sit down and I’ll explain it all to you,
And he said
After you’ve been having steak for a long time
Beans, beans taste fine
And after you’ve been drinking champagne and brandy
You come to dig that wiiiiine
OOOHHH the world is funny etc.

I'm so happy to have found this album this late in the year. What an album. Even the weakest track can be appreciated by some.
Like I'm not that fond of Demolition which I think drags too much but I know tec liked it quite a lot
