fucc I'm addicted to this... what a way to end the year! never thought there could be a band in 2024 that could conjure up 2006's Thrice and Black Peaks (RIP).
Hopefully they'll be appreciated enough so they can keep making this amazing music.

This actually hits me like bands like Dvne and Conjurer, as in the same brit scene of post metal/hxc. They have a slight screamo touch and more0 focus on some more melodic dynamics fs. In the end, all the ingedients they put in the blender came out quite smooth. Thoroughly enjoying this a few listens in. Death Curl rules face, omg m/

Oh yes the cleans sound a bit like Black Peaks, though Will was a bit more powerful in his clean delivery. The clean vocalist does seem to take Inspiration from Chino, as much as Will from Black Peaks does. Definitely hear the Dustin Kensrue(?) inspo in the cleans too

The album art has a color scheme not too dissimilar from Statues too

It's all good guys. Saw some pics with vocalist with deftones shirt. This leans and goes to likes of post and screamo bands tho.

Ok to good production i'd say too, especially in the quieter sections

i must say not every track has the production shining. the opener had a weirdly synthetic glean on it that had me quite worried at first.

Grandfather has actually become one of my most listened tracks here, I feel like listening to it pretty often, I kind of wish it just went on and on

Hasn't clicked that much for me so far. Came here by the rec from Piripichotes and i was promised Black Peakishness, which i only hear partly

I'm sorry dude LOL.
I swear that to my ears this is 1/3 Black Peaks and 1/3 Thrice
I'm just grateful that a band like this one exists today. Good post-hardcore is SO hard to come by.
I mean, Black Peaks is very close to Thrice IMO.
There are a few bands that come to mind when I listen to Black Peaks, maybe ourfathers. or Arcane Roots? I don't remember to be quite honest, it's been soooo long since I've listened to both.

Arcane roots is somewhat similar yes, but the atmosphere and the vibe are very different in a way. Black Peaks is almost what Oceansize would be if they were post hardcore/sludge metal, which is then filtered through a Mastodon lens. So in a way, i found them very hard to replicate
Hidden Mothers is a lot more post hardcore in an emo sensibility to me, which makes the Thrice comparison much more apt than for Black Peaks. But there is obviously talent and musicianship here, it just might not be for me

I gotta be honest, I've only listened to "Frames" and that was soooo long ago. I remember it being very proggy and liking it but I haven't touched it ever again, might be a good time to revisit.
What I loved about Black Peaks was their Thrice moments LOL, so maybe that's why I like this band so much.

the "thrice moments" are also some of my favourite things about this release, that plus the way they balance it with post-metal and blackgaze really works for me

These guys are brilliant. Deserve so much more exposure than they're currently getting.
