Slack, I'm sorry you feel that way. I really don't like the breakdown section. I think it's spastic, random, and just doesn't fit. Please don't say my review sucks because I dislike the album. Base it off the way I wrote it.

Iluvatar, I didn't just mindlessly say "oh noes chorus again sukors". When I first heard this song, I honestly thought it was over at 8 minutes. When it began again, I was confused, and I tried to portray that confusion.

stompybeardo, if by new stuff you mean Amputecture, I would have to strongly disagree. I strongly dislike Amputecture. It just seems boring. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews for it already.

Nice try, I disagreed with almost every aspect of the review. It still was the best one could do for a non positive review of this album.

I hate to say it because only annoying people say this, but it's true, many people like it because they just don't get it. Keep listening, the chaotic play, the ambience, the lyrics, it will all make sense one day to you (wel... Maybe not the lyics, but sorta)

Im not sure whether or not this is uppable. It wasn't a bad review, it was just wrong.... But C'mon. "Cygmus... Vismund Cygmus" That tells me that you barely paid attention to the album.

OH, and by the way, listened to this twice today, it\'s still classic.

i found parts of this album "hit and miss" in some rare parts too (i dont know how to have an emotional response to 2 minutes of traffic noises), but the parts that are good are really rockin

er, I was being facetious. Kinda. The guitar playing in the breakdown is just gorgeous. One of my favorite solos ever.

Whatever. I didn't neg you, and I wouldn't for something like that, so be happy.

Iluvatar, I actually do like progressive music quite a bit. In fact, Coheed And Cambria are one of my favorite bands. However, what I don't like about this album is that it just needs more structure. The Mars Volta are extremely talented, there's no doubt about that. However, talent isn't everything, and this album just flies out of control too much for my liking. But hey, that's just me.

Cocaine And Toupees, yes, I did try to understand the album (or as much as I could). I do understand that TMV use the ambience as a form of artistry. I just think it was overused in this album. They almost tried to us it (in certain spots) instead of actual music (like the 3-minute ending of The Widow). I'm just not a fan of that kind of stuff. As for your comment about me being wrong, I wouldn't say that at all. I happen to have a different opinion then you, that's all. After all, this is art, and open to interpretation. And for your Cygmus comment... Wow, because I accidentaly had a brainfart and spelled the song name wrong, I didn't pay any attention to the music. Yeah.... lol.

stompybeardo, I couldn't agree more. When this album does something good, it'd amazing. However, when they overdo things, it doesn't come out as well in my book. And I agree about the car noises comment.

Actually, I don't hate this album for being prog at all. As I said, I am fond of prog music, and as I've said, Deloused I consider to be a great album. There are some great prog moments on this album, but there are also a lot of moments I dislike, just due to the fact that nothing worthwhile happens. But whatever. It's your opinion, and I don't really mind.

to make it more obvious i could have said Billie Joe is a great guiatirist and that fat drummer is bonham reincarnate. To get back to TMV are there any other opinions on the new album?

It's a good thing you were being sarcastic, or I'd have to kill you.

I\'ll admit, I\'m more into Prog rock than pure prog, but still. I have a good enough background with prog-ish music. This Message Edited On 08.29.06This Message Edited On 08.29.06

De-Loused is a hell of alot more accessible than this. In part because it really is better.

De-loused does have a much more mainstream sound, making it more accessible to more people.

De-loused > Amputechture > Frances

If the new album is more accessible, I should probably check it out.
