I am right there with you Steak, threw it on for fun this morning to pass time while at work and already on my third spin. Liking this way more then I thought I would.

Great review that captures a lot of my thoughts. I was initially worried by the singles (except for Crystallized) that this was steering too hard towards Octane-core. After a handful of full listens, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The album is varied, dynamic, and memorable. It feels like a heavier combination of everything she’s done so far.
I think it’s really important (and part of Poppy’s appeal) that songs like The Center’s Falling Out and Halo share space on the same album. I’m leaning towards saying this is her best album. It sounds like a more mature, self-assured I Disagree.
PS: I definitely want her to go full Norma Jean for an album.

Another ep in the vein of EAT, Spit and her knocked loose feature would be gnarly.

This record fucking slaps. I was expecting to not like it because truth be told, not a huge fan of Jordan Fish or his production but Poppy somehow is able to shine through some pretty standard Fish production stuff and allow her quirkiness and artistry to really shine through in a very cohesive, mature way. Kinda blown away by this actually.

Also thank you for reviewing something other than Linkin Park. Very nice write up, feel like I agree with a majority of your thoughts

I was planning on reviewing LP because I was so hyped for it, but then I saw how many reviews were going up and thought better of it. It was a good call, because I don’t really have many thoughts on new LP, I’d just be repeating talking points made in other revs

“What we have in front of us is not only Poppy’s most consistent album, but one of the most enjoyable metalcore records of 2024”
100% agreed. Great review.

This sounds incredible. It has such a familiar yet fresh feel to it, I’m loving it so far

honestly she's never sounded better, vocally or otherwise. maybe EAT is more eclectic/surprising but this might be even more consistent

Still need to finish my first listen but so far I dig it. My one gripe is that her screams are QUITE shrill and when she does a full track with them, with her limited screamed range, it can get grating. Center beats ass but I think it was in dire need of some vocal variation. She seems to be experimenting a bit with some lower stuff which is good, if she's going hard on the aggressive sound I think she needs to build out her screams more.

Thank you for invisipos kind sir. In my opinion, it at least matches EAT, though it's nowhere near the same type of metal (barring maybe The Center's Falling Out)
