they're playing with armlock, an awesome up and coming band also from melbourne, in march which is gonna be a sick show.

haven't tackled this yet but excited as their other albums rule and always nice to see bands like this get recognized from non-aus centric music sites like sput.

hell yeah guys!!

same redrig: a line i had floating around in my head for this review was something like 'basking in the glow-era oso oso if they spent less money on a fancy producer and more on writing more songs or something the hotelier could've made if they got their shit together" lol

I like this but I feel like a lot of the songs sorta sound the same

Not hating on it of course, I still think this has a decent chance of becoming a 4.5 or 5 knowing me and my tendencies surrounding this type of release lol

I feel like the tonal shift between the two halves is big enough to dissuade me from agreeing there lol

well the first 14 songs are summery sugary tune goodness and the last 11 are a fucking devastating heartwrenching real-time album about the singer losing a child (as jesp covered very nicely in this great review)

I have decided this is good music

Just HOW good a third listen will determine, but it got way better on second listen so I have high hopes

I need to hear this band's other stuff. This is great but not sure it'll go higher than a 4 for me. It's missing something -- might be lyrically or just emotionally. Feels like it sounds bigger than what its substance actually is, if that makes sense. Still absolutely bustling with hooks though, I'll be listening to this a lot more as 2024 wraps up. Also made myself a 14 song condensed version of this that might be on a loop for a while.
