Never listned to anything by Xiu Xiu before. How the hell do you pronounce their name? Anyways, album title is so good I'm gonna jam this today. Awesome review btw

I've always pronounced it (roughly) Shoo Shoo and have never questioned whether that's correct or not, because my opportunities to say it out loud are minimal

Their debut changed the way I thought about music, so quite literally life-altering. There's not many albums I can say that about. Their discog overall is quite the goldmine. Enjoy

Orb's lowkey among my favorite writers here so his opinion is intently awaited

Over-subscribed to checking a bunch of stuff so gonna bookmark / allow this to marinate. Strong 3.5 thus far, this is probably stingy but I am a scrooge!

could maaaaaaybe do with a greater infusion of grating trolololol fuckery as I am accustomed to with these guys, almost gets a little too comfortable at times. Chilling to Xiux2... what heck?

Is this album on the lighter side? Kind of like a bottle of rum (track)? I could see enjoying that, especially after how bleak their last album was

yeah, it leans more towards the poppier side of their sound and is less confrontational / provocative than the majority of their work

I dig it a lot, especially when compared with any comparable material of theirs, but it's not a coincidence that the more suffocating, darker cuts are sticking with me more here (I like the vibe of the bookends, especially)

Okay yeah the opener is the best track by a mile. Nearly done the album, nothing else has stood out even remotely as much as Arp

Live show was awesome, as per usual.

The version of Wig Master they're doing is next level insane.

Common Loon was HUGE

I started listening to this band three days ago so this album is not my top priority, but the day will come.
