listened to That's How I'm Feeling on the radio the other day and it was laughably bad. Dude is just going through the motions. Absolute bore fest dinosaur-rock devoid of feeling

Check the openers, most of this sounds nothing like that one

Thanks everyone! ☺️ glad to see Sput mostly agrees that this is the shit

@neek was just about to say that. I loved the opener and then thats how im feeling came on and it felt just how owhoadyo just described it

@Neek Great review! Quick correction. the song is called Bombing Out, not Bombing Yourself. It does in fact jam harder than the most recent wave of comebacks

You all are easily impressed it seems

I wouldn't give this anything over a 3, hate the production choice, hate the nostalgia galore, some riffs are cool, choruses are weak.

Saw him live last week, It was a very boring live show as well. It was funny to hear the only memorable hooks were the white stripes songs.

"✨lo fi garage✨" doesn't justify how inconsistent it is from song to song.

Look at the band personnel for this album on Wiki. It's very apparent that these were tracks recorded from multiple separate sessions and, as likely, different recording set-ups. It's one of the few times where I think such a haphazard approach plays well into the aesthetic of the album. Why do you think it had people feeling the urge to pick up their guitars? Because it sounds homegrown as shit; it sounds like what dozens of us have loaded up in Logic Pro or Bandcamp or whatever. It's heartening to listen to a good album from an acclaimed artist that doesn't need the benefit of 75k worth of recording equipment.

Idk I think people forget just how redundant even the best White Stripes albums were, there’s a ton of flat material that just doesn’t sparkle and I genuinely struggle to remember despite the sheer number of times I’ve heard them over the years. I went through his discog solo and with the Stripes in prep for this review and honestly I don’t buy that this is just nostalgia, this is the best he’s ever sounded imo
