When he says “noise”, is he talking noise noise, or, like, noise rock. Because there’s really nothing here that resembles or comes remotely close to noise. Noise rock? Maybe. Would argue that the totalist elements actually make this sound/feel like it borrows more from math rock than anything. (Speaking strictly besides black metal, which it very clearly is.) It’s “noisy” I guess, but a lot of music is noisy that isn’t “noise”, per se. This has a lot more in common with Don Caballero or Horse Lords than it does Merzbow or The Gerogerigegege. (And just because the vox very briefly sound like TN12LLU, this ain’t goddamn spongebobcore 🥲)

Imo, this is better than their debut. It's like Glen Branca collided with Black Metal.

It has this really lopsided feeling rhythmic pulse and such bizarre guitar textures, I love it

yeah aveilut was better (probs one of my fav metal albums in recent years). imo peep that for a better impression of this band.

Scorched Vision is insane. Relentlessly propelling itself forward for the best part of ten minutes without losing momentum, or becoming overly repetitive. Then the only break is the eerie outro into Subduction

Yeah, maybe this will not hit as hard on repeat listens but my first impression was very positive. I guess it's a little bit more straightforwardly metal with less overt drone/minimalism influence (at least in its presentation) but I love the more live/in-the-room energy we get here, honestly this is kind of a perfect follow up to what Aveilut was doing that extends the ideas there in a rather different but still satisfying direction.

the haters make us stronger
but yeah, what they smokin? I could see this being somewhat divisive, but no more so than the debut. If anything I thought this may go down smoother here because of the greater emphasis on variety

I think I actually feel the opposite - I'm not surprised this is more divisive than the debut. It's more "varied", sure, but I also think it's more abrasive from a sonic/tonal standpoint despite the variety. They might find the debut boring, but this could be actively grating.
In any case, I agree that both albums rule. Think I prefer the debut by a hair but this is growing on me more every time I listen to it.

This has those ‘grating sirens’ 🚨 in Alkaline Grief etc. as a potentially offensive barrier to entry, admittedly. I just thought the variety would lure people in. I couldn’t necessarily point to a part of Aveilut to check because it really is an album’s album whereas this is more highlight real worthy
Idk talking out of me backside now
Prefer Aveilut but understand why it’s an acquired taste. This too, but in a different way.
