Such an amazing album . First listen was amazing and the 2 subsequents one were too. Easiest 4,5 of this year and in contention for my AOTY.

I gave it a whirl last night and liked it enough to purchase it. Not sure it will live up to Pool though but I will give it time.

Whistlestop as in sheer breath, not intending to imply lack of depth, ig overwhelming is a better descriptor, whereas this my brain can latch onto more readily as a singular coherent thing

There's some fucking great ambient on here. Terminal Z really lowers my blood pressure

For real. The opener, Waldmeister and Terminal Z are all like floating on a cloud

I think Resort is becoming my favourite Skee Mask; Pool's position is definitely under threat at least...

5.0 Nostaglitch (best ever Skee Mask song for me - those subtle little crunches are inspired and oh so satisfying)

4.5 Reminiscrmx, Waldmeister, Daytime Gamer, BB Care, Terminal Z, Vitamin 313

4.0 Hedwig Transformation Group, Element, Hölzl Was A Dancer, 7AM At The Rodeo

3.5 Schneiders Paradox (my favourite on first listen, but now I find it's the only point where the album loses a little clarity? focus? precision? not sure of the right word...)

Nostaglitch is just a retooled take on Ozone to me, more nuance in its production but misses out on the og's beatwork and doesn't land as well outside of sequence. Both it and Hedwig are basically an extended warmup act for me, not sure how much I care for either outside of that context

this is probably the least highlight-centric album i've heard all year, but Reminiscrmx is probably the one song that best reps everything I like about it

Ozone is an apt comparison point to Nostaglitch - they are constructed quite similarly. And as a huge fan of his more ambient work, Ozone is a highlight on Pool for me - the moment where the album detours and deepens. But compared to Nostaglitch, Ozone feels like a first or second draft. Nostaglitch nails the pacing and the peripherals far more effectively.

Having said all that, I felt exactly the same way until a week or so ago - that Reminiscrmx was when Resort first ignites. Nostaglitch's preeminence was an epiphany that took a mind-altering substance to fully appreciate.

So there is that I guess...

ooh, yeah this is gonna take a while to unpack. It certainly does seem like an album's album so far - definitely less highlight-packed than Pool. Compro (marginally) remains my fave Skee and that took a long time to marinate. The fact we don't have a direct post-Pool development, ain't necessarily a negative

I guess we could've guessed this would lean on the ambient / chill side of his sound from the title

teetering between a 3.5 and a 4 on this one. Great record but coming straight from Compro and Pool, this has much less bite to it than the others, especially Pool. A very light-heated vibe here that makes it a good summer listen tho

I far prefer Resort to Compro, but depending on how I feel on any one day I oscillate between this and Pool for best Skee Mask release.

Also, I have discovered that there is something about 7am in the morning when it's still dark outside, and I arrive at work and have the office to myself and pump this loud that Element really hits the hardest. It really is an extraordinary album in that different songs jump out at different times; honestly can't think of another album that does that to this extent - kind of like an incredibly even football team where a different player is the star each match.

Totally agree with those points, I find a new favorite on each relisten. Vitamin 313 in particular really stood out last spin

Its really hard to say but Im thinkin this is PROBABLY his best album so far in the consistency category. The production on here is just next level. I'm so envious of the way he mixes his albums, truly masterclass shit.

So 40 listens later, Resort is now my AOTY so far. Love, love, love it. May become a very rare 5 for me in the next year or two depending on how it evolves over time.

Still highly anticipated releases coming from Nick Cave, W. H. Lung, Kelly Lee Owens and others, but it could be my first purely electronic AOTY since 2007 and From Here We Go Sublime.

On holiday atm and was looking for something new to jam. This has been the perfect fit.
