I think Jamie St. Merat might be the greatest drummer who ever lived.

He is absolutely great, no doubt, but that sounds quite hyperbolic

He is great no doubt but I'd love to see him playing other styles to gauge his versatiliy

St. Merat would probably make my top 25 metal drummer list. Great... amazing in fact... but not the goat or anything

This being boring just does not compute for me. Album hit me like a Russian racehorse in the Kentucky Derby with a glue truck behind it on the very first listen.

Lotta good metal drummers yall. He aint the goat but he's obviously great. But technical ability isn't the only qualifier for me personally. It's definitely a big part of it but creativity and suiting the song matters

that's the thing that he's better than most other super technical metal drummers at, tbh

Disagreed. He does the same triplet based linear fills constantly. I still like it when he does it lol, but I can literally predict his fills when they're about to happen. But he's very good at coming up with interesting grooves during their slower melodic sections... then he'll finish it with that fill lol

All of their albums have been pretty immediate for me with the exception of Destroyers. That one took a while to grow on me.

The problem with this album is The Dawn is Hollow

That song doesn't stand up with the rest
