I need to give this a bit more time, because DT always puts out growers, but a few preliminary thoughts:
- ooh, pretty (obv)
- Golden, Capo 0 (those backing vocals = wtf levels of bliss), and Sanctuary are my top 3 tracks so far
- Unpopular opinion compared to other comments itt, but I'm not convinced that the finished versions top their EP counterparts. Maybe I just grew too fond of the originals and need to spend more time with this album.
- Having some trouble breaking out one track from another in my mind post-listen, feels like the hooks are not as obviously defined as they were on ATSLTT/Midnight Sky and the production is a bit too hazy/fuzzy for my liking, makes Jack's sexy voice seem a bit too distant.
- Artwork is 10/10, would frame and hang in my house
- Not a single song here is less than a 3/5, this band remains Jimmy Eat World-tier consistent
- No song here is on the God-tier level of Chalk Dust/Seven Stars/St. Mary's Rd either, but that's asking a lot
- Huge fan of the running themes & callbacks to other albums, glad to see that continue
- Lyrical themes are beautiful but also sad (as Sunny pointed out in this very good review), hope all is well < 3
- Over/under on me waking up and suddenly discovering this album is a 5/5 classic set to 2 weeks from today, place your bets in my shoutbox

Did you not expect that song to be so well received? It was the immediate standout on my first listen. The first 40 seconds or so are a level of instrumental grandeur and majesty that rises above all else here. Reminds me a bit of the guitar section late in Koi Pond, only executed better. Feels very Jimmy Futures-esque.

We were definitely confident in it but borderline unanimous favorite has been a fun surprise haha

This is super clean cut even by modern emo standards, but the musicianship is cool in spots. Somber Shuffle is my fav so far but I’m only halfway in. Dunno if I’ll finish it

appreciate you giving it a try brother

Capo 0 Song, Golden, and Flicker are my current faves. As of now, I still like the original version of Jeremiah... best, but this album’s version is a great update.

So, for Capo 0 Song, are you tuned to D or are you just standard tuned but playing in D?
|
| |
D standard, I originally wrote that riff in C standard but we didn't feel like setting up Tim's guitar for one song only
Flooded Basement is in DADGAD and then Sombor Shuffle and Backwards are in DGDF#BE, only for the entire rest of the album to be in standard lol
