"Uh never heard of this band, but I guess they have 14 albums
That sounds like a lot"
Just start with In Search of Truth. Both a fantastic album and a great entry point

Start there but by no means skip out on the record before it, Solutide Dominance Tragedy is a great record

really into this, haven't listened to any evergrey album since uhhhhh Glorious Collision but decided to check out the new one, and it's hitting for me. they've got a butt-rock adjacent kinda thing going on but they can actually write a good song, i dunno i'm old now and it's doing it for me

"artwork reminds me of Enter Shikari's The Mindsweep"
Was gonna post the same thing lol

Heard a few songs off this, sounds like generic modern Evergrey

I got hammered and slammed the Recreation Day vinyl with a friend a few weeks back. Now there's a new Evergrey album? Perfect!
Don't listen to the hipsters btw. Recreation Day is, far and away, their best album. In Search of Truth is not even close to their full potential, which they realized across Recreation Day and Inner Circle and have been refining ever since, with some duds along the way but a return to form more recently. Great band.

"Torn was an p good record but I think that was my favorite vocal performance of his"
Torn is my fav Evergrey record, I'm weird like that.

"artwork reminds me of Enter Shikari's The Mindsweep"
I can definitely see that, lol. I was also thinking of the final Animorphs book "The Beginning" for some reason

Still don´t understand where the prog is supposed to be in their albums. Anyway, got the CD yesterday. First 2 spins were promising, but need more time.

Hey this album is pretty good. Gets fairly heavy at points (by Evergrey z-tuned guitar standards) and they've brought back some of their bass-drum-chase writing here. Production is on point, vibe is on point, good stuff. Album is maybe a bit slow on the whole but these guys have never been particularly fast or adventurous on the tempo front.

Evergrey consistency legendary as always, although this record feels a bit more filler-y than their last two.

This is really solid.

I actually hated this record after 1 listen. I had it at a 2.5 initially, which is rare for me since obviously I think they rarely do wrong. Its quickly growing on me though.

^ heh, I was waiting for you to comment on the thread. Especially after our other convos about the band. Glad you're enjoying this one

Haha yeah, man. In my younger, more active days on here I was definitely the resident Evergrey guy. Still my favorite all-time band, too.

Yeah, I think you were the one who got me into their work in the first place. I feel like they've been somewhat erased from prog metal history over the years, despite how incredible their classic period is

It’s funny you say that, I was thinking about that a few days ago. 15 years ago they were always lumped in with DT and Symphony X. Granted, Evergrey’s style has changed a lot over the years, but I do agree they deserve a bigger place in history. Those early albums were undeniably great.
