Dad can be lonely place. Don’t laugh, you are gonna be there!
You’ll understand one day.
What about Nashville?
I invite Scott Sanford out to the lake. We do not talk about Taylor. He wants to see the lake. He sees our jet skis. He wants us to corral ducks for the Nashville Duck Drop. I agree to corral ducks if he lets Taylor be the talent at Riverfront Park for the Duck Drop. I take my boat towing two jet skis through the locks, 35 miles to Nashville. I herd and then have to pick up 15,000 little bastard rubber ducks to the point my arms are falling off while my daughter is singing. That week the band ran up a $3000 bill for practice. Fired Jamey. But her performance was good for her and created some buzz. Big effort. Yeah. Worth it. Who knows? Did I get to see Taylor’s performance, uh actually no because I was picking up 15,000 ducks out of the river. Not the brightest Dad but she did get a very high profile gig.

yeah, as someone from Missouri (most of us are chiefs fans, not me tho fuck the nfl) how unavoidable she’s become by almost every metric is nearly fucking nauseating. Like, I know more about this woman involuntarily than I do of artists I actually like.
So somehow, I let this delusional ass swiftie tell me to give this a shot because it her “best album ever!!” So I listened to the whole fucking thing and sans a couple of decent tracks here and there, what bloated steaming pile of dogshit. Some of the most plain pop I’ve ever had the displeasure I’ve heard.

Oof does not seem like the headspace to digest this in tbh, but also Taylor really has only ever been an eclectic assemblage of ascending pop trends, it shouldn't be a surprise that once annointed pop's guidestone she became musically directionless outside rote diarism (good word Shamus)

I'm disappointed in sputnik for allowing edgy kid reviews like this. There should be some kind of test to pass before you can be a contributor.

You've been here for almost 15 years and haven't written a single one. Sure, you don't have to be artist to critique art or a dentist to see good teeth, but I'm proud of my writing skills, have been repeatedly commended and featured for my writing by some of the Sputnik staff, and by the same token, got the bump to contrib
So get in the ring. Better yet, tell me why I'm wrong about this album. Justify your creepy defense of a fucking billionaire, whose mentally ill fans would unalive your family if she told them to.

half the point of the contrib tier existing is to give writers a place to get shit like this out of their system
fuck knows i benefitted from it, but if you're gonna run the gamut of gossip and suffocating opinionated overtones that mix not at all with your hysterical generalisations, you're gonna have to start dishing out some IOUs on basic self-awareness unfort

"Justify your creepy defense of a fucking billionaire, whose mentally ill fans would unalive your family if she told them to"
Definitely not trying to go 0/2 on predicting where violence will occur in music culture, but this feels hyperbolic. I'm much more threatened by a US government that is putting through privacy protections that will allow figures like TS to hide just how much she's using her jet from the public. Even if she is a billionaire (and must be devoured whole), I think she's much more a symptom dancing through late capitalism than like, idk, an active contributer like Harlan Crow lmao

I saw her open for Rascal Flatts in 2008 (so she was the first artist I ever saw perform live) and I bought the Folklore cardigan when it came out in 2020 (still have it)
I would not call old me a Swiftie (I was always aware her fan base is a cancer to society) but I was a fairly big admirer of her music. But I can't do it anymore. I have no tolerance left for her. Shit person who is also prone to making pretty shit music at times to boot.

my perception of her has degraded so rapidly the more I learned about her and the swiftie cult.
At first, I didn’t mind her. Kinda dumbed down pop music for teenagers, didn’t see it as any different than the dumb shit I listened to as a teen. I was actually a fan of folklore and evermore but never really got into anything else she did. But that fanbase… they never grew up. Just listening to some people drone on and on about her for hours got so tiring. Then all this Post/Mid Eras tour stuff, I realized that a lot of these fans were legitimately fucking insane, just forming the most unhealthy parasocial relationship with her.
It’s honestly not at all dissimilar to any rabid dipshit that loves Trump and thinks he’s a god. Two sides of the same shit delusional ass coin.

This is the best review I’ve seen for one of her albums. The “Swiftie” cult is quite sickening. This bitch doesn’t even have a good voice and sings about the same shit. People also don’t realize that she is a shitty person and a closet racist. There is absolutely nothing special about her.
