summary read as an appropriately tongue-in-cheek riff on the album's schtick imo

Boney - hope this keeps growing on you a little bit
Johnny - erm, hope this grows on you exponentially;)
EDIT: yes the emoji was the clue it was a self aware riff for a self aware album

Oh I assumed it was a lyric from the album so that's my bad lol

I really really try not to just quote a lyric from the album as a summary, I don’t hate other people doing it and sometimes it fits like a tee, but it’s fun to try and come up with something else I find

Slex - main thing is thanks for still reading despite that initial impression, I have to admit on average I probably only read two reviews in full here per week, so just appreciate if anyone reads all or part of anything I write.

You've always been a great writer, I am excited when I see a review from you!

I usuall never pay attention to lyrics unless they're super obviously cringe but the lyrics on this album are incredible.

Futures - I believe this is one of the best 'of the moment' albums with something quite profound to say of recent memory so I think that may help to make this the ideal starting point.
The earlier albums are quite different, less electronic influenced/varied but also great, slightly more conventionally indie. This album's predecessor is about the same quality and style as this, I'll have to compare them a bit more down the line when the dust has settled a bit.
Hawks - yeah, one of those bands where the lyrics (and maybe I'd also include the 'vocal delivery' in that) are the most important element really, which is not to say they have to lean on them, the compositions are mostly real good too.

appreciate you man, will definitely be checking this one out soon. seems like a great album to put on at the end of the night and relax to.

Very well-written review, but your overall description of the album's concept makes it sound exhaustingly preachy and sanctimonious.

Ebola - I was worried about that hence the need to calm people's fears in the fourth para.
The first song sort of sums it up...yes they're aware of a level of damage and danger but there's a real nihilism and enjoyment to the self destruction/self harm of it all. It's kinda a fun (and funny) album despite everything ;)

Wasn’t super into the spoken word stuff, so this kinda was boring to me. But I can tell they’re great at what they do. Just not what I’m into is all
