Kinda formless and not as strong as the debut but still quality stuff. A little disappointed most best songs were the singles.

^yeah this is the correct assessment. i'd like to see them experiment more with the stuttering guitar on I Quit, seemed like an interesting idea that never quite blossomed

Didn't blow me away on first listen honestly. Need to give if a few more spins. Teleharmonic stood out to me

Debut was AMSP pt2 & I think AMSP is unbelievably overrated. This album is the best thing since In Rainbows imo.
“Read the Room” is the biggest earworm in a while.

Read the Room verses remind me of Blonde Redhead - Bipolar but don't pack the same oomph. Can vibe that one, even if the coda flounders big time

I don’t personally enjoy it as much as their debut (which I loved), but I still enjoy every song.

Sounds pleasant but on the second listen and again I'm struggling to pay attention more than with any other recently released album I can think of.
'Wall of Eyezzzzzzzz' for me a bit.
3.5 in danger....3rd and 4th listens will tell me everything. I'll try and track rate on listen 4 to stay focused :/

Think a good choice for this Smile output not to have the Radiohead stamp - not because it is bad, but because it would have just done strange things to the Radiohead legacy

After 3 spins I’d say I am enjoying this more than the debut and in terms of a unified listening experience from beginning to end I like it a whole lot more than AMSP.

'I like it a whole lot more than AMSP'
early impressions are a couple of songs on Moon (Daydreaming? Present Tense?) are better than the whole of this album combined
a lot of the acoustic stuff on this sounds a bit like 'True Love Waits' knock offs...again on early impression

Are we allowed to say this is boring yet?
Mostly very one-paced, a lack of memorability and bizarre, quite frankly absurd lack of dynamics or production trickery, rendering the softer moments (of which there are plenty) soulless. Absolutely no atmosphere. Just a complete lack of depth all-round really. Best bit is when the loud noise part in Bending Hectic starts because at least I actually remembered this was playing

'Best bit is when the loud noise part in Bending Hectic starts because at least I actually remembered this was playing'
That bit did sound a lot like 'my name is Jonny and I do soundtrack work don't you know' but yes, it stands out at least

Tend to agree with those who are saying this is a little boring. I'm not sure why I feel that way, because to me this just sounds exactly like Thom's Radiohead work. This seems like one of those albums that'll randomly become a 4.5 in several months lol.

All the best ten songs Thom has worked on since ‘Moon’ (inc Smile stuff) on the one disc and re-recorded as a flowing album probably would equate to a 5 and that’s frustrating I suppose

I haven't followed it very well; feel free to let me know what that'd look like some time because I'd probably enjoy it a lot.

Probably three songs from ‘Suspiria’, two or three from ‘ANIMA’, two or three from The Smile and maybe one or two from elsewhere I’m guessing. I’ll think of putting something together when I’ve digested this one ;)

Teleharmonic, Friend of a Friend and Bending Hectic are all 5/5 songs in my book. Appreciate the kind comments
