My manager who apparently used to be a big punk in the 80s is convinced that greenday were the nail in the coffin of true punk specifically with dookie … I don’t know enough to know whether there is any truth to that claim?

Seems pretty ignorant though surely it’s just reflective of shifting tastes and trends , I mean did 80s punk really break through the mainstream ? Music sites would have you think so but my folks said they never even heard of some of the big names

They were my favourite band in grade 7 and I learned most of their songs on guitar but I’m sad to say their music just… really doesn’t hold up as well as I wanted it to or as well at contemporaries. I almost never feel like revisiting any of it.
