Sunday school macaroni art and bible verse memorization soundtrack
Surprisingly hard to pick a favorite song from this. Maybe Baion or Spillhaugen. This 4.5 might stick.

Only have listened to Flying Club Cup, but I really like that album. I’ll give this one a shot, because I’m always up for new indie-pop, especially with Brian Wilson-isms

The embarrassing pet sounds comparison comes from a few different places. Mainly the production and how Condon spearheaded the whole thing, but a few of the instrumentals do have a bossa nova feel similar to the one that Wilson also played around with.
May just be a me thing. Don't go in with high expectations because of me, please.
Also I'm shocked at how many people haven't heard Beirut's first album. The first half of that album should be mandatory listening.

This landed so perfectly in the changing and dark transformation of the seasons up here in the north. Those organs just vibrate through the soul, and these layered and looped melodies are stunning.

Nice, I wish I lived somewhere cold so I could experience seasons again. Miss those. This seems perfect for that.
Also, a Beirut album ending its run on the sputnikmusic.com front page with a 3.8 average? Is it Christmas already?

Getting back into this. Could've shaved off 10 minutes or so, but it's probably the best arranged/produced album from last year that I heard. The Pet Sounds comparisons are apt imo.

Vindication!
I still love this a lot, honestly. Glad it didn't get completely shafted.
