Also thinking it’d be funny to play down the circumstances of someone still in intensive recovery, who you don’t know, and in a dry / wholly ambiguous manner (as opposed to obvious sarcasm) is idiotic.
Like, gallows humour 101 is that everyone has to be in on the joke, or signposted in the joke to the fact that it is a joke and not to be taken literally, otherwise you’re just being a dick and then (when someone actually gets offended) going “oh oops I was just joking lol duh”.
