checking this out before the new one here goes
ahhh yes, title track is some very nice OPN for sure

damn "Krumville" pretty dope too usually not big on the inclusion of vocals on his tracks but it ok here
overall initial impressions feeling ablum is underrated

Though I do like the new one.

Naw. Tranquilizer is a cohesive sonic world to get lost in. One of the most focused and polished electronic albums I’ve heard in years—far surpassing his similarly-ambient stuff like r+7.
I need to relisten to this, Magic, and Age Of, but the last time I heard this, it just sounded like some post-modern sound collage. There’s great stuff on all 3 albums, but they’re very aimless and ‘showy’ compared to Tranq imo

My brother is really into his electronic music but hadn't heard of OPN which surprised me a bit - I said try Tranquilzer. He liked it but his take was 'kinda like Prefuse 73'.
I think his later albums like this one are more unique and would be harder to place.

Guess this will be next on my OPN journey.

There's def an argument to be made of his later albums sans Tranq being his most creative, but idk, I just don't think they stick the landing the same way albums like Tranq and Replica do. GoD is an outlier. For whatever reason, that's an instance of his "throw-everything-at-the-wall" tendencies working out super well.
Relistening to this rn though, hoping I like it more than I did previously. I've been super super into OPN lately. I do a lot of content creation for company blogs so I get to listen to music all day long, and I swear I've played Replica, Tranq, R+7, and Zones 15 or so times each in these past few weeks

I'm sure I'll listen to this many more times today as I do more work from home, but I def enjoyed it more already this time around. It's not as sound-collage-y as I remember it tbh. A lot of it still did just pass by, but Ubiquity Road and A Barely Lit Path are phenomenal. Krumville is another highlight. Gotta see what else reveals itself

Ugh. Okay I just shouldn’t say anything about any of his music until I’ve listened to an album like 4 or 5 times. Had the same reaction to this that I initially had on my second play, but somewhere around the 5th listen it hit me that this is fucking amazing

I think the middle part of this record is the strongest, just before Nightmare Paint

The middle section is excellent yeah--Locrian to Nightmare Paint is a super stretch. Still think the best tracks are the last too and Krumville though
