Anyway this was cool, probably a high 3 or a low 3.5 right now, but then again, Altered State grew on me from a 2.5 to a 5, soooo

Yeah this was pretty good. Definitely feels like a grower but on first impressions it's definitely the strongest tesseract album since Altered State. The back half doesn't feel as strong as the first half, although the title track is fantastic the last two songs feel kinda mid. The first 4 song run is really damn solid though.

it's just more tesseract but it has more heavy moments sprinkled in, like, it's fine, but far from mindblowling

Album Rating: 5.0
i think this is probably their best album
but
that doesnt mean all that much in the hands of a band that has never really broken a 3.5 before

one is the only competition this has. altered state is great but it is m u c h samier than this and loses a lot of momentum in the back half, and their last two before this sucked lol those dont even break a 3. im a big fan of dan as a singer and a writer but all of his best work is in other projects (skyharbor, absent hearts, white moth black butterfly)
this still sounds like them it just comes across hungrier like theyre actually tryna prove smth

this album is insanely samey wut, all Tesseract albums lose steam around the end tbh cause they're a pretty one-dimensional band

not more than altered state tho (and definitely not more than like fuckin polaris) lol
also the last two songs are better than most of this which is unusual for tesseract fare

Yeah this is the first time they've even come close to One and AS for me, not sure just yet if it's quite on those albums' level but the first listen was amazing

the main area one kinda loses me as an album is that so much of the record is taken up by just concealing fate which whips but since thats older than the other songs the records a bit awkward of a listen. it still whips tho def their best beforehand
the regrowth single majorly slaps too good lil teaser into this reinvigorated version of them

This is honestly their strongest album to date. There wasn't a single song on here that I disliked, except the title track could have been a few minutes shorter. Vocals are the best Dan has ever sounded, and the production is pretty killer. Will definitely give this a few more spins, but right now it's sitting at a 4.5 for me.

Hopefully a grower. Maybe first few songs will sound better if I reset to earbuds instead of in my shitty car on the highway.
