Wavy is a good descriptor. This isn't busy or jam-packed with exciting moments, but I'm definitely mesmerized by it.

Yep, he does remind me of Orville Peck too. Great review Sowing (as usual).

Thanks EoinCofa! It's weird, I listened to the album three times and was in awe of his voice before I even made the Orville Peck connection. Now I hear it every time. I think I like this album even better than anything Peck has done though, which is saying a lot.
Unrelated, but my track ranking would go something like this:
1. Where Will I Go - 5/5
2. Golden State - 5/5
3. There Goes My Mind - 4.5/5
4. Midnight in L.A. - 4.5/5
5. All the Wine in California - 4/5
6. Till It Feels Right - 4/5
7. Some Misty Morning - 4/5
8. I'm Not Here - 3.5/5
9. Court of Love - 3/5
10. Obviously - 3/5

Review summary hooked me in so I streamed the album on a whim. Enjoying so far! Happy that from your perspective he sustains the strong first impression throughout the album - this is something I was missing on Honey Harper’s debut.

Glad you're enjoying it. Some songs are definitely better than others, but the atmosphere remains strong throughout -- even on the slightly weaker cuts. My wife thought I was playing some country version of Elvis when I had this on, which I can sort of understand. She might like it even more than I do, so the album has been on a lot these past several days which is only increasing my enjoyment.
