Review is on point, I'm happy you mentioned the guitarwork in "For Tomorrow". "Unable to Feel You" also has an appreciated use of guitar melody.
Unfortunately this continues the post-TLoS streak of minor albums, and even between them the previous one (As the Morning Dawns) had a more unique identity with its icy winter synths, but I still find things to like here too (like the post-punky opener or the two tracks mentioned).
I'm starting to think they may have used a lot of creative juice to make The Light of September, which I believe perfected their current post-punkier sound and is one of my favorite blackgaze records ever (with Try Not to Destroy, which is my fav AAFCC), and now they aren't sure where to go. I do think they're still worth exploring every time though, like As the Morning Dawns like I mentioned has some great wintery stuff ("Of Your Light", "In Winter"...).
Gotta say all in all personally I don't fully get why in the bm-related world (or metal in general) they're the ones to get specially grilled for sameyness though, honestly.
Oh also, in case somebody doesn't know, M has published two side-projects this year. One is Our Throne which is a straight-up atmoblack record, so those who want more proper bm from them should check it out! The other is Coil Cloud and it's a solo project, he basically ended Cold Body Radiation and started Coil Cloud in its place, and it's closer to AAFCC than Our Throne.

while it pains to say it, this is absolutely true, they have blackgaze down to a T, but there is too little experimentation between them, at least Deafheaven knew when to switch things up

I would actually say most of these guys blackgaze albums are better than sunbather, mainly cause I really am a sucker for the post-punk elements they infuse in it.

Must have been recently Pherin, within the past couple days? An Autumn for Crippled Children is a terrible band name, but very memorable. An Autumn is pretty forgettable.
