"nothing about this grabbed me, sad, guess it's very much that old Suicide Silence Whitechapel kinda deathcore, and I just cannot get into it at all"
i mean, i don't hear it, but that would make sense given that those two bands introduced me to the genre, and given that i really like this album.

There is nothing unique here whatsoever, just by comparing the intro tracks of their sophomore and this is all you need to know. On their sophomore they actually put some thought into creating a melancholic captivating mood that was unique to them, but they just threw that only thing that made them standout away. This is so basic and boring, this band is dead to me.

This might be generic and not breaking any new ground but the riffs come thick and fast.
Solid album. Oh, and the vocalist is pretty adept.

Lollllll this thread. Vital Deprivation is the only album of theirs that I've heard and it sucks but gonna check this though cause I love that album art lol.

This is nothing like Vital Deprivation. Ticks many of the modern dxc boxes. Drums sound dumb and those spotlighted vocal gymnastics make me cringe. Vocals are pretty good in general tho and there's some pleasantly bouncy stuff. Not the worst I've heard tbh.

VD -> Absolvere is a huge step up imo, and Absolvere -> Amongst... is, different but a lateral move in terms of quality. i agree with Nex, lots of bounce and groove especially on the first half of Amongst... which i think a lot of people here would file under "guilty pleasure"

I can't even remember why I decided to bump my rating. But yeah, this is still unremarkable uninspired tripe, and the new song will probably be more of the same.

somehow less than a year later I saw them again, this time they didn't play the T/T from this, and so ALL OF IT LITERALLY SOUNDED THE SAME. Crowd went fucking nuts though. Saw a gnarly pit injury for the first time in years.

Modern deathcore fans are literal cavemen. They hear big chugga chugga, big low guttural and they go apeshit. It makes it easier for the deathcore bands to recycle the literal same shit album after album and get away with it scott free.

Agreed, at this point it feels like it's less about the art of the music and more about the jumping up and down and moshing to very perfunctory breakdowns

Scars Upon Scars on the new one is fun.
