Two Day Romance is unironically the best Converge song of all time.

I wouldn’t go that far but maybe a top 25 track, sad that they’re never gonna play any of this shit live because it’s so much better than most people give it credit for, including the band themselves.
But I get it. Ben and Nate have been in the band so long, I totally understand why they’re not really wanting to play these tracks live, and most of Petitioning and WFCC for that matter.

High Cost of Playing God is such a good track off of WFCC

bro I stay saying that I wish they had more material that was screamo coded. There’s a lot to like here but goddamn Dead and Farewell Note to This City are so fucking fire and they’re both screamo as fuck
|

their screamo influences show up in weird places, can always use more of those in their sound

Yeah… if converge records typically hover around 4 this should at least be at a like a 3.3-3.5, I’m honestly thinking of bumping it. It’s really fucking good man.

Yea I'm hearing some cool hc punk and early emo/post hc influence here that's pretty dope. I think people let production affect too much of their rating tbh. Its less of an issue w music like this imo

I spent way too much time ignoring this record because of that fuck ass average. I truly don’t think most people who rated it that low ever actually gave it a chance.
This is not like, significantly different from their Petitioning/WFCC era… maybe a little less frenetic and a little less refined but I truly don’t understand how anybody that fucks with the rest of their 90’s material wouldn’t be into this.
And yesssss I love the emo/sceamo influences in some of their earlier songs. Dead and Farewell Note to This City are two of my favorite Converge songs ever and both are basically straight up screamo songs. That sound is pretty much completely gone now, but man this band could’ve gone in a *drastically* different direction if they wanted to. I’d like to take a peek into the alternate universe where Converge is the best screamo band of all time instead of the best metalcore band of all time.

I'm currently doing a comprehensive discog jam and I'm totally with you. This fits right at home w the 90s era just a bit more unpolished in comparison. If the bar wasn't so high by comparison, this prob would get more love. It's still solid and fun time imo (granted I'm about half way)
