@SomeCallMeTim Necrophagia's Season of The Dead is technically considered the first "true" death metal album since it came out several months before Scream Bloody Gore. SBG is the better of the two, and certainly more iconic though.

drums are big part of why this rules. sounds like they’re constantly falling apart but in a good way.

I’m a drummer and it’s the first thing I hear and the main thing my brain focuses on and it’s always kept me from bumping this higher than like 3.5/4 range

Mostly listen to recent stuff, because I only have so much time. Wish I could revisit all those classic albums, but unfortunately I have to work for a living. Probably won't get to that until I'm retired, and then maybe shed a tear or two. I remember the waves it made, when released 38 fucking years ago. Time flies when you listen to metal.

I’m busy catching up on old shit I missed (not necessarily ‘new’), but yeah even amongst the classics this gets forgotten.

im the opposite azog, I am so skeptical and skiddish when it comes to new music, I am a vanilla smooth-brainer and only listen to the oldies. usually when a semi modern album clicks with me its already 10 years too late

T'is a shame since it encompasses death metal atmosphere even better than the Unholy Trinity of 1986.

Damn why didn't I think of that, just jam music while people are trying to talk to me, yeah!

I find putting your hand up to their face and looking away from them whilst jamming helps immensely, if they persevere just bring out the 'I can't hear you' gesture.
