This review was an interesting read but very ironic at the same time. You seemed to focus on Syd Barret more then you did the actual album which is kind of strange. I also thought that the Radiohead comparisons were completely unneeded, you wasted to much time making odd comparisons then you did describing the album. Comparing and contrasting Wish You Were Here and Radiohead is kind of ridiculous.
Agreed. I thought this review strayed an awful lot, an in addition to being extremely long-winded, it didn't feel like a review of the album so much as a review of Pink Floyd and whether or not WYWH was an appropriate tribute to Syd--as if Syd Barrett should be the one criteria by which this albums music is measured.
As formidable as these tracks may seem to a passing ear, in full, the songs do not deliver that signature Pink Floyd sound. You know the one; your sitting in front of a stereo and a cluttered ashtray at midnight and so begins playing 'Comfortably Numb', or 'Hey You'. Yes, both hits from their conceptual opus The Wall. I thought this was a ridiculous statement. First of all I disagree with the notion that the "signature Pink Floyd" is the album largely dominated by a single band member, and an album which is far more radio-friendly than anything else in their discography. The band even said the reason they chose a more progressive route is because it seemed easier than writing pop songs.

Interesting review and its good to see that someone has the balls to do that, although I am a huge fan of the album

This review basically says Radiohead is better than Pink Floyd. Which is stupid as hell.
neg.

... or that, since it's dedicated to Syd Barrett, it has to sound like Syd Barrett, which is not right at all.

Keeping your opinions to yourself, this is a good review. I didn't agree with the comparisons either, but frances had the verbal cojones to back up his comparisons/opinions Unlike someone who I recently quoted
{looking around, now}.

Reviewing Pink Floyd is risky business.

Almost as risky as reviewing Metallica or Green Day.
...speaking of which, Bron go read my Insomniac review. Or don't. Depends whether or not you're in the mood for A CONCEPT REVIEW!!

Yes, Bourne, this is probably one of the most boring albums I've ever listened to in my entire life.

^Heh.
This would be a classic if SOYCD 1 and 2 weren't so long. They might not work shortened though. Still, good album. This Message Edited On 07.11.07
