This is my least fave Oxbow apart from maybe Fuckfest (guess I’ll try again). Gonna pay my respects and read this beast anyway. Epic review. Incredible band.

‘narcotic story or thin black duke are most accessible and best entry points i think‘ (2)
yeah, Narcotic would be my choice but both work. Their peak is definitely Serenade / Evil for me, with Narcotic third

Okay mr. someone, so first of all I want to think that this review is meant to parallel the way this album sounds or the philosophical approach that Oxbow are taking in relation to the subject matter of the album. If that’s the case, I love what you did with it. There are some typographical errors but I don’t really have a way of highlighting them and they are few. When you are describing the way the album sounds, the review becomes structured and cohesive and very comprehensible. While I think I understand what you were trying to do with this review, and while I love the format and the unorthodox approach, if you were NOT intentionally making it feel disjointed, I feel like a lot of the ideas you are trying to communicate are a tad disjointed. A lot of the first third the review felt like there were a lot of individual ideas or thoughts that didn’t really have a string connecting them. When you started talking about the music itself, the review sort of straightened itself out into a more cohesive form.
Again I really do like the formatting, the attention to detail is far more than I usually put in my own reviews, your description of how the album sounds is mesmerizing, and overall I love what you did with it. Anyway, I hope my feedback was helpful in some way…

That was kinda the idea: 7 tracks = 7 sections (paragraphs) + a conclusion after the breather. Funnily enough, I am less pleased with the latter half, when the actual musical analysis comes up, cause I depart stylistically from imitating the songs and their atmospheres. So the disjointedness and chaos at the start is paradoxically the part I put most effort in...
Anyhow, thanks aplenty, bubbulah.

Okay well take back everything I said then because if that was your intention, you pulled it off incredibly well. Nicely done man.
