"RAGEBOI" gave me hope for something massive, the album just never hits that kind of level after the opening 5 tracks.

I'm pretty obsessed with "Right Now". I've had that on RAGEBOI on a constant loop anytime I listen to this

They're a perfect opening pair. Nothing really replicates that rush even though there are good songs beyond that point.

I am so far behind on these guys

Used to love them and still jam stuff from Phoenix and before fairly often

@Ecnalzen - As others have said, How to Be Human and Patterns In the Static are pretty skippable. Not that they're bad, but they do very little to stand out, especially compared to albums like Phoenix.

Silver Chord is there peak for me, nothing else since has come to that level yet.

Silver Cord is a hard 5

Vagabonds, Albatross and this are solid 4s

Agreed, Silver Cord is on a different lvl than the rest of their stuff, but I do still really like everything I have heard up to Phoenix, and that re imagining album they did was pre neat, too

I want to have a gander at all their post phoenix stuff, but mayhaps I will start with this since the reception has been better

What in the heck, why is rageboi only a minute long

It had a really cool thing going and then just ends abruptly

I think rageboi would actually be worse if it went on for much longer

I also think that bands only get to pull the 'song about the power of music' card a few times in their lives but New Noise is just so good

I disagree, I think HTBH is extremely bad and PITS is a mix of 'even worse' and 'shockingly good' that averages out to 'okay'

but I also didn't like Phoenix very much except for a few songs so

I may try them all again soon but I didnt find much to like from any of the last 3 they have done after a listen of each

I also find Phoenix to be relatively underrated/on par with this album, they haven't really returned to their roots beyond stray flashes.

I'm totally fine with "RAGEBOI" being short, I think it accomplishes all it could in that span, but it sets a tone that just isn't there; you go in expecting bangers, and you get crescendo-core instead. I'm much more forgiving to said crescendo-core since the band does it well, but it undeniably leaves me wanting.

Yup, this was pretty good. I'm tempted to do a discography listen tonight and revisit their first three albums.

Just finding out about these guys. This album is great.

They remind me of Deaf Havana back when they were actually good

Edit: Also getting some The Dangerous Summer vibes
