Ten years after Mitch’s death and this is the garbage they put out… It wasn’t like they were a good band but Mitch was probably the nicest frontman in that scene. He at least didn’t have stories of sleeping with underage girls, spitting on fans, or refusing to show up at meet and greets.

I've said it before, but I am surprised there has not been a tell-all documentary/book out on Warped Tour. Lot of bands involved have been outed for grooming or worse, really makes me wonder whatever else happened behind the scenes.
This band's new era peaked with the "teehee" memes tbh

“ really makes me wonder whatever else happened behind the scenes.”
Spooky shit, but definitely a good point. Between Warped Tour and regular tours, who knows. It could go beyond just members of bands, but I don’t wanna speculate too much.

A tell-all doc would be insane lmao, so much bad shit happened and I wouldn't find it hard to believe even more went on that hasn't been addressed.
Mitch was a nice dude for sure, just wish he didn't make a stupid decision that cost him his life

The thing is "what worked before", never actually worked. Suicide Silence were never a particularly amazing band

Mitch was a nice dude for sure even tho he definitely didn't look it. Still bummed about what happened tbh, The Cleansing was sweet.

These guys have always been shit.

If you want an example of what modern deathcore really devolved into look at the "big six" aka Project: Vengeance. Really basic shit only focused on the vocalists.

That project is dogshit but I don't agree about the genre not having evolved. I couldn't get into deathcore before bands like Shadow Of Intent came along with actual riffs and strong songwriting. Not saying the new wave totally rewrote the book but it has been elevated enough that you'd have to be deaf to accuse the genre of having shown no real growth.

I mean yeah there's some good gems but so much of it is the Infant Annihilator tech wank for the sake of tech wank playbook these days. Its exhausting. And the fans wanna erroneously compare the good albums to bands like 5FDP for some reason (Kin by Whitechapel for example)

I have enjoyed plenty of Deathcore in my day and never once have I understood the hype for this band. I find their entire riffing style to be uninteresting, with very few exceptions. RIP to Mitch, dude was very skilled and influenced the genre pretty heavily in the early days. But I just die a little inside every time I remember that this is why we don't have All Shall Perish anymore.

It's kind of weird being in the minority that enjoyed this record. It's got that classic deathcore sound with the song structures mimicking that of deathcore songs in those late 2000's/early 2010's deathcore records. Some tracks don't hit quite as hard but overall, I found this to be pretty solid and consistent.

This is actually a valid point. Your comment made me check out the first song proper and it reminds me A LOT of continent-era Acacia Strain in the riff department, but almost like they sucked all the charisma out of that record if that makes sense. The drums stand out though. Not as bad as I expected but not something I’d jam on the reg - interesting to see how much it really does resemble late 00’s era deathcore

Why does this band have such a big name in deathcore? All of their albums are pretty poorly rated on here. Some in the 1’s 😯. I’ve never bothered listening to this band because I don’t like deathcore, but I do watch Garza podcast occasionally if I’m interested in the guest.

^ i would guess MySpace, their first album, said album’s vocalist (Mitch Lucker)

"Why does this band have such a big name in deathcore?"
Mitch is (was) arguably the best vocalist to this day in deathcore and the cleansing blew the scene wide open at the time. The legacy of mitch and the cleansing was so strong that the band, to this day, can still drag the corpse of "what was" in terms of cash grabbing generic core albums such as this one.

The Cleansing is a classic. But this isn't that bad as i thought it would be, too

This sucks bring back all shall perish

What a horrendous album. Tiresome, bland, unlistenable drums, stock tones...it has it all. The self titled is a masterpiece next to this, at least it sounded raw with RR production.

Meh this is generic but not bad on execution. The second half of the album was way better than the first.
