The title track kind of drags. Definitely my least favorite song on the album. Nuckelavee, Carrion Crown, and Mester Stoor Worm are incredible.

I'm sorry! I agree with title track!

The two long tracks are my least favorite, simply because they are the ones that stray furthest from the Hellripper formula.
Cursed Carrion definitely my favorite, what a fucking torpedo of a song.

Cursed Carrion is one of my favourites. I cannot get the riffs in that song out of my head, they are so good.

Nice review. I’ll get a lot of play out of this one
I can’t believe the “guitarists” and the drummer are the same guy. Amazing. He has to be one of, if not THE, most all-around talented musicians in the history of the genre, maybe in the history of Rock. Les Claypool tried to do everything on a couple of solo albums, but his drumming skills are noticeably weaker that those on the guitar.
On this album, the only rhythm I noticed that seemed to challenge McBain’s drumming ability -- just a tiny bit -- is on “The Hissing Marshes.” Is that an especially challenging beat to pull off? On that track the drumming reminded me a little of Lombardo, Hoglan, Benante and Ventor on their very earliest albums. Great – but not yet the machine-like masters they were to become. I only noticed it on this one track though; elsewhere the drumming blended in seamlessly, so maybe McBain was just having an off day at the studio. Or maybe I’m full of shit?

I'm more of a slam, deathcore, tech death type of guy but man this album absolutely delivers and brings me to the conclusion that I need more thrash in my life. I mean listen to it.. crazy good riffs, nice black metal screams and I find the overall songwriting very enjoyable. It's an easy listen because everything fits so well together. Album goes for about 45 minutes which flew by very fast.
It blows my mind that one guy can be so good at multiple instruments and put it all together to produce such a good album. Only other one man band that I rate so highly is Panopticon.

The last quarter of the title track is such a bombastic section (opened with that solo)! This is already my most jammed album of the year so far.

This is definitely my favourite and most played of the year so far with Insomnium new album being close second. Every song here slaps but I agree the last quarter of the title track is incredible.

6:52 on the title track freaks the fucking shit out of me every time because when I'm listening with headphone it sounds like someone is banging on my door
