I dived into the Sargasso Sea once again just for Ars! (and also maybe because I wanted to).
I’m satisfied with the results. The less frenetic percussion unsurprisingly works for them. It’s smoother if ever-so-slightly less unapologetic in its quirks (still quirky tho, of course). It’s perhaps even(?) easier to see the Stereolab likeness which certainly ain’t no bad thing of course. Maybe it deserves a bump because I’m a sucker for this sound tbh
I wonder what their post-Sargasso material is like…

Band's discog is defo underappreciated. Nothing else of theirs touches this (or even Sargasso) but it seems there are gems aplenty. "Mother of Pearl" is so infectious.

This is (likely) their peak but Sargasso Sea is rather delectable also.

I remember liking Sargasso Sea, but it’s due a revisit. I jammed North Pole Radio Station right after this, but it paled in comparison.
