Good review of a great band that's incredible live.

BTW> Doc and Dallas do the melodic singing, not Byron.

Ahh

They had a great set Sunday. I can't name any of the songs they played, but it was metal madness! I love their distortion too, very crisp, even live.

Can you say total mosh pit on the concrete? Cause I sure can

I think I might look into this album soon.

Meh, people like to think so cause of the screaming and "chug, chug, chug" riffs. But I like to thnk of them as melodic death, its full of shred an other great riffs.

I know, i know. Its the vocals. And some repetative riffs.

Fix those, and it could pass for Melodic Death. (btw, I'm not talkin death like Cryptopsy, more like Dark Tranquility).

No, just metal. Metal doesn't have enough sub-genres to classify bands like GF.

They're waaaaaaaaaaaaay closer to Melodic Death then metalcore. Like Ramsey was saying, they're not Melodic Death but they do have a lot of that to them. Toozey was just being a poopie head.

How about "Ass-Kicking Metal?"

or "Metal to beat the crap out of people to?"

Toozey, go take a listen to Cro-Mags, Black Flag or if you want to get more modern Count Me Out, Bane, Carry On, etc. and then tell me where you hear hardcore in God Forbid's music. There's way more Heartwork-era Carcass or In Flames in God Forbid's music then there ever will be hardcore.

There is a difference between Hardcore and Metalcore. Dont try and educate me on hardcore, I already know it but God Forbid is Metalcore.

So what is 'metalcore' anyway?

Metal + Hardcore?

*Proceeds to call them Ass-Kicking Metal anyway*

Correct. But God Forbid is not metalcore.

Let me put it this way.

If their was a fully just melodic death tour with say....oh...Carcass, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranqulity, Arsis, In Flames, Soilwork and the like, God Forbid could possibly be on the bill because of their sound. It would make more sense to me than having them on a Metalcore festival.

I thinks its all a matter of opinion anyways.
