I think the bottom line is he really is a classic case of an artist being their worst enemy, he has issues trimming his material down and sometimes just loses the plot on his pen game.
He excels when he's open and vulnerable, but sometimes there's some clutter in the way of it.
The initial and final parts of this keep things 3.5y here but there's a shorter 4.0 buried inside.
