This ambient album is what the earth would sound like if it was able to subdue its denizens with infinite knowledge and understanding. Each note here has been saturated in character and finesse to the point where evocation is undeniable, and each listening experience is unique. Every listen however does reveal an odd paradox: when listening to the album, a morose feeling is exuded, yet an uplifting quality is produced. Perhaps it is the fact that one can feel such sadness that makes them feel this way? Whatever is the case, it is phenomenal knowing that this minimalist collection of songs is able to produce such an effect. Though very lengthy, Basinski shows his genius with tasteful subtlely. Oftentimes utilizing bare-bones piano notes and cello arrangements, his songs are extremely lengthy, relaxing, and enjoyable. With each press of a key, a reverberating sound is sent throughout the air, oftentimes repeating its call to those who are lucky enough to hear it, and dying as it does so. Yet, I highly doubt that this album will die anytime soon, as it is the essence of life, originality, and music.

edit: i dont usually admit to this stuff but i might like this more if it wasnt for bitchfork
he's essentially ruined the entire ambient genre for me :-(
|
| |
well it provides a nice side effect where you want to love everything that he considers artistically worthless
its weird like bitchfork is hated mainly for the same reasons mj was, but for whatever insane reason i liked mj
|
| |
gonna revu this
you guys have to read
|
| |
mj had ups and downs, and then just downs simply based on the fact that he stuck around too long
at least imo
when the whole ctts-hate thing (not even when he posted the review but when he was trying to get it so
people could rate it 1's, etc.) started going i was just like alright stop
|
| |
mj had actual problems(mainly being an obsessive freak).
b4k is just a self-righteous semi-troll
|
| |
bitchfork has terrible reasons for disliking music, just like mj did. but i hate them both
|
| |
i hate that everyone called bitchfork out on being an idiot and now his reaction is trying to be a 'parody of himself' like the constant "IS THIS NOIZ LOL" posts
but anyway this talking about bitchfork and mj is getting me sorta down
|
| |
downer: admit it, though, you wanted mj to like the music you like
|
| |
yeah, i recommended him flying lotus, but i still hated him
|
| |
he was cute in individual moments, but conceptually and the impact he had was godawful
|
| |
nah it was just his incessantness really
hope incessantness is a word, im tired
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
this thread has no b4k and no mention of frotting
I WILL CHANGE THAT... i wont
|
| |
I didn't post on this thread because the review is god awful.
|
| |
I've been trying to for such a long time but I think I'd probably end up disgracing Basinski by doing so.
|
| |
Yes because William Basinski is noiz.
And it's so weird doing drone music on a split with noise. You know?
