Dying Song didnt grab me until I saw them live last week. Song fucking slapped live.

I can't imagine being a 9 member band and having 2 of them being the key to good songwriting. I did watch a yt video of the long nose one that said that everyone was a cunt though so it makes sense it'd be hard to get shit done

I wish I said some things about it in the review, but Jay kills it. Knows when to go ham and when to let it breathe. I really enjoyed him. Corey sounds as good as ever aside from Heirloom and De Sade's choruses. Just can't stand those.

"this crushes Gray Chapter and All Hope is Gone."
This is on the same level as Gray Chapter aka it sucks.
AHIG has way higher highs. Gematria, t/t, Sulfur and Psychosocial shit on anything here

There’s a distinct lack of screaming for most of the album and almost all of the clean choruses really lack the memorable or engaging hooks they’re known for imo. This record feels like they just wanted to get off of their label so badly that they released b sides.
It has moments that I really like but it fails to deliver on actually engaging songs as a whole for the most part. The choruses are also extremely jarring and don’t fit the songs. Huge step back from WANYK.

Didn't like this at all, worst thing they've done after the first listen. Hive Mind was the only thing that really stuck with me. Corey's uncleans are really good but I hate most of the choruses here and there's a severe lack of memorable riffs.

Best since Iowa? HAH.
Besides The Dying Song (If Slipknot made Sic in 2022) Hivemind and Warranty, there isn't much to be desired for. While I really like Adderall and Finale, they feel out of place if you're talking cohesively. Heirloom, Acidic, H377, De Sade, all sound like b-sides, with Yen, Chapeltown, and Medicine for the Dead are middle of the road.
Listening to this, and then going back to We Are Not Your Kind, the quality is night and day for me personally; it's so much more focused in sound and has that hard hitting punch that the new album lacks. I cannot find any tracks on The End, So Far that even come close to Birth Of The Cruel, Nero Forte, Critical Darling, Spiders, and Solway Firth. WANYK is just far more interesting and had sprinkles of their past efforts throughout.
This is a decent effort, but nowhere near their best. Bottom of the catalog for me. A lot of it sounds like they just had to shat out a record to depart from Road Runner (Thank the lord). Jim Root explained in an interview how the recording process was all messed up, and he didn't have a lot of creative input in it... Oof.

Return, I honestly have no idea because this has a lot of Vol 3 and the last two records. Mostly WANYK. I’d suggest you listen to WANYK before this because it’s just a better version of this. Just set expectations when listening to this. It’s a disjointed record even though I love moments.
