The 'energetic' songs on this besides the singles are suuuuuch filler god

This is a massive letdown lol, they are either on complete autopilot or indulging in stilted and awkward experiments
Cardinals 2 tho goddamn

They did the whole "who knows how longer we keep going so let's do every album like it's our last" in an interview but it was never said to actually ne the last.

Hope it’s their last

should just disband tbh
would be a good riddance

Nothing special here for me.
Gonna jam Future Teens instead, Soupy actually features on that album as well.

Yeah even with this growing on me over the day I still think it is very easily the band's weakest since The Upsides, and the disconnected thing touched on in the review is VERY felt

If Sister Cities had tolerable production it would universally be considered their best
TGG is still their best tho because wow Sister Cities is produced horribly
|

both are better than the shitty suburbia, agreed

TGG has their best songs (I just want to sell out my funeral, devil in my bloodstream etc) but as a whole album Suburbia will always be my fav

In a different stratosphere than anything else on the album, top 5 TWY track

First spin and I really don't get the hype over Cardinals II. Laura & The Beehive is great tho, and The Paris of Nowhere goes pretty hard.

This is good, but it feels like theres two different albums happening here, a high energy bouncy ome and a darker moodier record.

These guys have always been a "track" band for me (as opposed to a "record" band). I don't totally love their style but they strike gold every now and again ("There, There", "I Don't Like Who I Was Then", and "I Won't Say the Lord's Prayer" come to mind).
What's the one or two I will like here???

Crazy good review. Finally get to listen to this.

Yeah it feels like 2 different albums, one by pre-2015 Wonder Years, and one by Aaron West. A bit disjointed but definitely some good tunes.
