Bruh TDWP is classic. The dichotomy between Meryl Streeps character and Anne Hathaways character is really entertaining.

This has their highest career score on AOTY I'm wondering what the reason is for the discrepancy in opinions

Idk i feel like the majority opinion here are weird metalcore fanboys that just want the bands to go back to their old style and not evolve. if you want that just listen to Miss May I, they're stale as fuck now (not outright terrible tho) but they never got "soft" so they're ok!

PS: I like this more than most of their early material so...

this bland ass songwriting is not an evolution it is a complete sanding down of character and personality

Zombie was an evolution of their sound. Transit Blues evolved that sound even further without sacrificing their heavy sound. Their early shit was often monotonous and boring kinda like this is but in a few different ways. This is just bland and safe like unseasoned chicken. I wouldn't say it's chasing bmth specifically like I've seen a few other say though. I don't think they're exploring any new sounds in any new meaningful ways.

Ive never looked at this band but i swear from what ive seen about them they drop a good ep/lp once in awhile and then just go back to shitting the bed

idk you can still hear the heart and the passion in this. "Twenty-Five" is uncomfortably gutwrenching, it's one that Mike says was the hardest for him to even record.

Wasn't a fan of Trapped on the first listen but I've actually grown to love it.

I think Mike and Jeremy's vocals in unison really elevate the song.

The Act and this are pretty much equal tbh, both having incredible songs like "Even Though" and "Twenty-Five".

both top tier, twenty-five is uncomfortably gutwrenching in the same way something like "Daddy" by Korn would be.

compared the cleans on this record to my wife who isn't a metal fan to The Act, and even she said it's a huge regression. what a shame, i love The Act and thought the band was going in the right direction after ZII
