Honestly I prefer 35 min albums lol. I still love me some long albums, but 30-40 mins is the perfect length for me

Thanks Dewi!
With regards to album length, it's possible I have a "modern short attention span" issue, haha. Their are very few double/triple albums which I don't think wouldn't be improved with a little trimming (even classics that I love, like Physical Graffiti).
But every album is different, the Big Thief record from earlier this year is an AOTY frontrunner for me, its ramshackle nature just works with the long duration. I do love a well-executed short album though.

I hope this is at least on par with their last album. Thanks for the review.

I can't say I hate every aspect of the intro, but there's a couple parts that make me wince and I feel like the vibe of it clashes with the rest of the album. That said, glad to hear at least someone is enjoying it!

i thought ellengaest was a very suitable runtime. i also like the cheesiest song on the album (the invisible past) the most, despite its somewhat generic lyrics. they definitely bring the cheese, but the musicality more than makes up for it imo. this one i can't speak to quite yet. it's certainly much harder to sit through front to back than their last, but there are some very noteworthy tracks. a handful of duds too. i've seen people saying the latter half is vastly superior but idk if i feel that way rn. gonna have to listen again

i think ellengaest and the great escape were better records but this is still really good.
intro is fine, it's always been the band's weird sense of humour haha.

Could this be album of the year? Never thought this band had an album this good in them.

Intro is hilariously bad. Imagine the number of people who worked on the album that were like "yeah dudes, that's a good idea"

Yeah idk how people are defending that intro. That's some massively pretentious garbage.
What's everyone's favourite tracks?

Yeah I really like wyches too. Same with the scene and bonefire. I noticed you dropped your rating, Dewinged!

After one listen, I actually found The Pilgrim to be my favorite, even if more or less every song here is stellar. That song felt like Katatonia at its best, with Segerstedt proving himself to be a pretty good singer for this kind of downbeat stuff.

Next album will have an intro of them dunking on Raid Shadow Legends
And yes The Pilgrim is a major highlight on here

Personally, Rose Of Jericho or The Scene Is A False Prophet is probably my favorite, but it's mostly pretty consistent in my book
