nah not really
sure some of the songwriting does feel NFO-esque but Soilwork are still their own unique band

I had a lot of fun with this record. The vocals just keep getting better, and there were enough twists and turns throughout with the instrumentation that I never felt bored. Another solid!

Willie, have you ever listened to System Divide?
I feel most mid-era Soilwork fans would dig them

Death I hear you calling sounds like Load/Reload Metallica
Edit: Heard it a few times now, i don't mind it

I think what's particularly great about this record is how they managed to incorporate certain elements of NFO songwriting into their own without sacrificing their core identity. Thought Verkligheten did that rather sloppily. Here it actually blends in seemlessly and marks the start of yet another era for the band and I'm all here for it

I still think Soilwork are at their best with galloping melodeath riffs and I particularly like the slight blackening they gave to various little passages on this album.
I'm less keen on their patchy forays into hard rock (even a little bit of cheesy power at times) and the folkier elements, although at times both of these show a little promise.
Ones to skip are Nous Somme le Guerre & Death, I Hear You Calling.

agree with hang, except I don't mind the folksy bits in themselves, just the way they're incorporated

Really liking a lot of what's here. Only 1 full playthrough so far, but initially feels better than their last release. The chorus on 'Is It In Your Darkness' is so dang catchy.

I've yet to listen to this, but I seriously doubt even the worst tracks off this come anywhere close to the badness of songs like say, Brickwalker

Alright, this has some pretty sweet moments, probably around as good as the last album. Strid is getting better and better at singing high notes, shows what practice can do for a guy
