Superb review Johnny! This band has only just entered my radar but I think I will have to give this a listen when it drops - I don’t always go for noise etc. rock but the subject matter you describe (and that lack of distance/suspense of disbelief) suggests this could work very well for me.

"how does this stack against their eps daddy?"
Gud! I liked the eps, but they v much feel like a warm-up act compared to this imo - the way they pick shit up and drop it within individual tracks feels much more fluid (and all the more violent for it). Agreed with BeeRyan that Brutal Truth is more in line with it, but there's a real spread of ideas here that I probably should have spent more time going into (bleh). Fucks!

without a shadow of doubt yes
also, probs worth noting that this isn't exactly free of suspension of disbelief (see: track 4 lyrics), which is no bad thing, but it just makes it stand out to me for being a starkly one-to-one register compared to, idk, the Jesus Liz' Lady Shoes where we're in 3rd person storyland or any number of Oxbow songs where it sounds like you're listening to an abstract retelling of gruesome shit happening to someone else
probably has more in common in that aspect alone with YWGWYW, but I wasn't going to make that comparison because 1) yuck 2) that album's vocals are mostly mediocre, but these are fire

solid review J-man, opening para in particular actually pinned down a few hazy notions I've had percolating for a while re: violent or disturbing subject matter gj gj
on the edge of my seat waiting for my BC pre-order to unlock, gonna be sweating and suffering through a motherfucker of a heat wave next 10 days and have a big need for something angry and grimy

Awesome, I can’t want to have a shitty, invalid opinion on this, but it’s fun to (try to) ~expand my horizons.~

I've been looking forward to this beast, the EPs were very promising indeed. The score and of course those 'rec by reviewer' numbers are whetting the appetite.
I might actually read the review now.

Nice one, Johnny.
Another great album from Chat Pile. Yet, just like their previous two EPs, there's just something preventing me from going 4+ on it, and I can't quite pinpoint what it is. Though perhaps that'll change with more revisits. We'll see.
also, attention to anyone who loves Chat Pile, I recommend checking out THIS album:

Which you'll find in a similar vein, albeit more noisy/sludge-metal-y?

Not really on point with this album but despite the atrocious person performing them the vocals on ywgwyyw are definitely not mediocre
