Been listening to this on loop since it dropped yesterday. I've found that Backlog is quite the sour spot when listening to the album straight through, but is surprisingly solid on its own. First two tracks are up there with their best imo

I'm really liking this so far. It's like with Down Through Gleemer thought they might break through to mainstream success (or whatever passes for it in the indie rock world, anyway) and when that didn't happen they said, "screw it, who cares about being accessible?" and recorded this EP.
This is their least poppy and most obtuse release since they reached their final form with No Goodbyes in 2015. The songs are dense, murky, with less obvious melodies and hooks than their previous work. I feel like I have to listen to this a bunch of times to really wrap my head around the songs, which hasn't been the case with prior Gleemer.
Although I will say Casino ended up one of my favorite songs from Down Through, months after I first listened to it. This EP has Casino energy to it, and I like that. In Your Way and Valentine are obviously great, but I really like the intricate songwriting of Passed Down and the twisty little guitar lead in it
The production is better and grittier than Will Yip's shimmery guitar pop that constituted most of Down Through. Corey's skills as an engineer are second to none. Here At All sounds like what you'd get if Hum decided to be an emo band, and that's fine by me.

wasn't feeling this as much as their other releases granted i was driving home from work with the window rolled down a lil. just seems like all the same shit they've been putting out for 10 years now kinda 🥱

I've been jamming this a fair amount as a nice concise listen, but none of the songs blow me away.
@Asura14, nice dig!

@Sunny read your review, I use my dig as a backlog for stuff to check, will get to it eventually
but yes I've become huge on these guys since down through, their whole discog is incredible, looking forward to an LP soon considering their cadence and hoping this EP isn't it

| |
not sure if should check
on the one hand, you've got awesome slowdive in similar bands section
on the other, you have super-shitty turnover
what do
HMM

Outline and Backlog were the tracks on here that stuck out to me the most. Valentine feels like it needed a big payoff and instead just ended.

Rules. Backlog hits right in the feels

If that wasn't Gleemer, it probably would not have been a 4/5. But with their tone, songwriting doesn't matter that much >.>
