cut and stitch was a bit more adventurous for sure and I also miss the guitarist doing back up vocals and whatnot
Bones might be their best song yet tho

Good to know I am not the only one cormano. Cut and stitch was an album I would play on repeat because it flowed super well with more chill moments and interludes. This is a 30 minute sledgehammer not that there's anything wrong with that

Sometimes I desire the chill. Sometimes I crave the destruction of the sledgehammer.

skimming through this and it's got some hitters, good shit. from what i've heard, the review's abortion framing is cogent and v much called for, but i think "Violent by Design” (which all but directly references the murder of Sarah Everard at the hands of a serving police officer, and subsequent public safety movement) is worth a particular spotlight if we're charting by milestones, especially since this is a UK band
looking forward to giving this more dedicated time soon

I admittedly leaned a lot more into that side of the story and it didn't fully develop other facets. That definitely deserves attention thought, too.

“Get yer pet troll gurls, get your pet troll girls”

I think this album finishes better than it starts so I could imagine an EP might hit a sweet spot, dunno, this album is interesting in a way in that they sound like a local band you’d hear down the pub/small local rock venue, the writing is pretty terrible (esp the tired melodies) in that familiar pub band way, but also they have conviction and that’s punk - so there’s an argument who gives a crap :/
But the songs just sound like total shit so much of the time I’m sorry

I guess I don't get how the songwriting is terrible, seems pretty varied and entertaining to me.
Maybe it's rough around the edges, but that's how pure punk should always be tbh

"so this is good"
mostly yes. wish the vocals did more at points (there are a few tracks where i feel the performance hits the 75% mark but doesn't quite cross the finish line), but the shape and range of these songs is otherwise pretty tight
"the writing is pretty terrible (esp the tired melodies) in that familiar pub band way"
lmfao @ this coming from a man with Go-Betweens and 40 Watt Sun albums in his topshelf
