This is fucking atrocious. I get the appeal of covering songs that influenced you, but at least do something a little different with it, such as Decapitated's version of Mandatory Suicide. All we have here is a 1 to 1 of the originals, but with Tom Araya sounding absolutely pathetic.

this is very fun! tom is a beast of a punk vocalist, really fun covers. the pap smear songs are wild, shame that project never actually recorded anything. would've been amazing.
this is pretty one note as you'd expect from a bunch of punk/hardcore covers but slayer does it so well. always been punk influenced so to hear them go all out is such a treat to me. wears out it's welcome towards the end a bit but still just a blast. i guess the metal doing punk is just for a specific type of person and that's me!
also gemini is phenomenal. sooo doomy and builds nicely. that opening stoner riff is amazing, sounds like sleep. slayer would've made a hell of a sludge band, as they would for many other genres.

Easily their other best '90s album besides Divine Intervention
I laugh when I remember how metal purists derided it back in the day.

Gotta hear this one too!

oh yeah i'm sure it was despised lol. back when communities of music were so segregated and didn't really crossover at all. pretty cool slayer always stuck to their guns and did what they wanted. wouldn't be surprised if they made this just to annoy their fans haha!

It’s not that bro. Slayer shift in style and atmosphere was devastating. Very different for the younger gen hearing it all at once.

that is totally fair. i tend to judge albums on their own merits without preconceived notions of what i want them to be. i like experimentation and prefer it to making the same album over and over again.

I hear you, but when context enters the equation, it's progressively easier to proportionally appreciate each album and era.

Me and my buddies, we were forcing ourselves to enjoy Divine and we did for a while, but it eventually broke. And then it got worse with this and Diabolous.
