I am mildly more interested in trying this than his last couple (which I skipped) due to the generally more positive reception elsewhere and the chamber pop tag on RYM, but this review is kinda killing that mild hype.

Cheers Atari, yeah, that song rules!
Boney, I'd recommend trying this as elsewhere in the music-listening universe this seems to be getting rave reviews (even if I really don't understand why)

I agree about his lyrics. I think he goes for meaning through repetition but it doesn’t always work. However, I think that musically this album is strong enough to make up for some simplistic lyrics. It’s definitely the most interesting and engaging music I’ve heard from him

The copy I borrowed from the local library would not play in my car, so I ended up just reading its lyrics and almost dismissing it straight away because I found them so cheesy. So, when I finally had a listen, I was surprised at how much better this album is than I had reckoned. Morby's delivery makes up for much of the poorness of his lyrics, but still this could have been much better with more delicate songwriting.

Wow can’t believe this only has 16 votes. Guess the site got tired of his shtick but this is one of his better albums imo
