Just threw together a bio, should update soon (realized I put the umlaut on the wrong letter, edited it so hoping it’ll adjust).

Hope everyone’s ready for this to become a shameless lyric posting thread for me.

My favorite kind of thread.
I admittedly haven't had much chance to delve into the lyrics but am hoping to do that tonight.

Oh yes Sowing, do so. There are a lot of great hooks that stand out but also some quieter gems and great storytelling details.

The first track is already disturbing as fuck lyrically. I love it.

Dude if you haven’t dug into the narrative yet… I won’t spoil anything but you’re in for another treat.

Yeah I listened one time all the way through and paid almost zero attention to the lyrics. This time I have the lyrics in front of me. Once I'm done I'll post something here about it; I can't imagine that listening this way won't enrich the experience.

I am incredibly excited to hear this but at an hour I want to set special time aside for it.

Fortunately this is musically strong enough and conjures a strong enough atmosphere that I can def see it working well without lyrics too. Fuck though man I gotta shut up and stop overhyping people lol. May still do my own write-up in time (I’ve also been considering doing an “all officially released Ethel Cain tracks ranked/rated” list for a while too, maybe I’ll feed the energy into that…)

Gonna let this marinate a bit but it may end up my AOTY

Haven’t had time for a full listen yet, but have gotten through Thoroughbread and that was enough to tell this will be special

OK just finished my second full listen with the lyrics in front of me this time, and I can confirm that it's an entirely different experience when you understand the storyline (previously I was sitting around a 4-ish, now I'm looking for a way to rate this higher than a 5). I want to discuss it in more detail but don't want to post spoilers for anyone who plans on approaching this the same way (listening uninterrupted w/ lyrics handy), so maybe when more folks have absorbed this I'll go haywire posting lyrical dissertations and explaining why all the albums that I once thought meant something now ring so fucking hollow compared to this fictional-yet-very-real tale of suffering tinged with just enough hope to prevent it from becoming a black void of utter depression. Phew.
