Except for the chorus which is crap more or less

If you don't like 'Hate Me' I would still check out this band. Also check out their other albums...The Answers, Consent to Treatment, History for Sale and Argue With a Tree (live concert).
The band has so many different sounds and moods - if you judge them just on 'Hate Me' alone then you will be missing out on some good music. I personally like 'Hate Me' but its not my favorite.

Blue October's songs are beautiful. i really enjoy Hate Me, Schizophrenia, Into the Ocean, Razorblade. Justin is a talented songwriter- he has been able to express his experience with mental illness in a way that others with mental illness can relate to. It is refreshing to see someone openly discuss these things through music. I feel Blue October is one of the most under rated bands around.

As I mentioned above "Razorblade" is a fantastic song. Can you recommend me the album(s) that sound(s) most like this?

"X Amount of Words" is their only good song. Well, I've only ever heard this album so I dunno if it's their ONLY good song, but I'm just gonna go ahead and assume it...

This album bores the hell out of me.

I love this album. Justin just seems to capture so many different feelings and emotions, and some people say that their various types of tracks on the album is from indecision, but I don't think like that, I think that it's just a complicated album from a complicated person that's been through a lot. I personally love "Hate Me" but it's not my favorite. Either "Overweight" or "She's My Ride Home" are my favorites from the album. I suggest that even if you can't stand hate me, and want to injure yourself when you hear it, that you listen to other songs by them and separate what you hear from what you have heard (and disliked) by them. They are a band that you can do that quite easily with.

Hate me reaches out to people who have loved a person battling with addiction. When you've given up on everything in your life trying to help this person that you also loose who you are and your own self worth. He is the person with the addiction finally doing the only loving act he can muster and that's to tell the one who loves him to just let him go...he can only cause pain. It comes down to him saying "hate me" in order for you to have a life and feel any sort of happiness...
"Overweight," "Into the Ocean," and "Congratulations" are also songs about how addiction affects those who love you. The lyrics of their albums are what made me a true Blue October fan.

Hate Me was a great song
Into The Ocean was even more so!
From what I've heard from the new record its not as good as this one.
I'm surprised not more people like the single Into The Ocean.

This is one of those albums that I didn't think much of to begin with, but as I listen to it more and more, I realized how brilliant it really was. Its an amazing story and well worth owning

X amount of words was the only song I had heard from these guys until just now.
Mediocre, really, but I still really like X amount of words, besides the whole crowd noise that sounds like it was pulled straight from a Refused recording.
